Chase and the dumbbell

Mr Woofers blowing his Christmas photo shoot - naughty boy!!

After a week of rain and dreary weather I got bored and pulled out the old dumbbell and grabbed Chase. School is was in session, heh.

After one quick and fun session, Chase was consistently touching, even banging a little, the DB bar with his nose. Including it being held in various positions. Good boy.

Today he is touching it when placed on the ground, jumping up to touch it when it is held over his head, and in various other positions. I've now started to put it on a random reinforcement schedule. Again, no problem.

Sooo that means I need to get ready to step it up. Next step is mouth on the bar. Oh goody, this should be fun. I'll spend a couple more sessions on randomizing the reinforcement, then it's time for the "hard part".

Oh, interesting. I also decided to start using a verbal CR, so I could have both clicker and a word in case I didn't have a clicker with me. I'm surprised, but Chase is doing even better with a verbal marker. Hmm...

Still here...

Ranger- 3 months
(Con-Te Ebony Award, ptd X 4HBIS Tex-Sun Legacy In Gold, ptd)

I'd forgotten about my poor little blog. ;-)

Since I don't have an active website anymore, have no plans to breed anytime soon, I've decided that, for now, this blog will be our "website". Sorry people, this is the best I can do for now.

I'm hoping to be able to get up some kind of freewebs website up eventually, but who knows... I'm still stuck on dial up out here in the boonies of North Texas.

In dog news, nothing much has changed. Except that FINALLY, I think I've found my foster collie, Mal, a home. I'm incredibly relieved as I can't wait to get him OUT of here - he's annoying!! :-)

Oh yes, and Charm turned 9 in August. I can't believe my girl is getting so old!!

Oh, rather interesting news - I am getting Chase's brother back. Ranger is a white factored blue smooth male. Very rowdy, since he's been sitting in a kennel for 18 months (NOT happy about that), but thankfully I'm getting him back so as soon as he hits the door he'll be in "boot camp'.

I haven't decided what I'm going to do with him. But he's not leaving until he's trained for and gets his CGC (he needs manners!) and is neutered ($$$)... He's very, very nice and I might try to show him, but I think his owners let his ears get hopeless, so probably won't even try to fight that battle.

It has been raining here in Texas for the past 4 days. And we've gotten around 7 inches or so. Muddy, wet, and dreary, but you can't convince the dogs it is nasty out there.
